We are extremely excited to invite you to Clackmannanshire’s Whisky Festival on 2nd & 3rd April 2022 at the Alloa Town Hall.
With a unique three-prong focus on Whisky, Wellness and Heritage, Clackmannanshire’s Whisky Festival will not only showcase the best drams available but will also present an exhibition on the long and esteemed history of whisky production in the Clackmannanshire area.
Clackmannanshire has a deep-rooted whisky heritage dating back to the 1720s when Kennetpans Distillery was founded by the Stein family and became the largest distillery in Scotland. Situated on the Firth of Forth, the ruins of what was once considered to be the home of whisky distilling and the birthplace of one of the world’s most famous whisky brands, Haig. More recently, distilleries at Carsebridge and Cambus continued this tradition producing single grain whisky until their respective closures in 1983 & 1993.
Clackmannanshire continues to play a critical role in a global industry which is today worth billions to the Scottish economy with DIAGEO one of the major employers in the county through the European Technical Centre and Archive in Menstrie, Scottish cooperage base in Cambus as well as the bond at Blackgrange which is the largest warehouse complex in Europe holding about three million casks.
Our event will be truly different. Clackmannanshire’s Whisky Festival will provide the perfect platform for up to 1200 ticket holders over 3 sessions across the weekend to reconnect after one of the most challenging periods of our lives, and to do so in a way that celebrates Clackmannanshire’s history and our shared passion for Scotland’s national drink. However, at its heart, this event will promote Wellness and work with local charities to raise awareness of mental health and male suicide in particular.
In addition to the focus on the heritage and wellness, the experience will involve sampling, live demonstrations of industry skills, food provision and an on-site shop. There really is no other festival that offers such a variety of tasting, interaction and giving.
