We are proud to be working with our event partner, Neil’s Hugs Foundation, who are doing amazing work across the Forth Valley including here in Clackmannanshire providing confidential help and safe, secure opportunities to meet and talk with others for shared support in the local community.
The past 2-years have seen a sharp rise in the number of male suicides in the Clackmannanshire local authority, and Forth Valley Health board areas. It does not have to be that way and we want to do all we can to share this message. Suicide is a preventable outcome. With support and guidance, the outcome can be so very different, but every one of us needs to know where to turn if or when we need support, and the event will seek to facilitate this.
Neil’s Hugs Foundation was founded by Donna Paterson-Harvie who lost her only son, Neil to suicide in September 2011. The groups are run by volunteers with the aim to help raise awareness of suicide in the local community and support families who have been affected.
If you or anyone you know has lost a loved one to suicide and want to talk, or you want support for a friend who you are concerned about, please call Neil’s Hugs Foundation on 07446717501. You can find out more on their website: www.neilshugsfoundation.com.
